The beautiful brass figure of a Shivlingam is nicely carved out with finest refinement and detailed treatment. The Shiv lingam is finely placed and OM is carved out on it. There are some spectacular floral carvings of snakes on it. Below the OM is inscribed a serpentine coil and the limgam is also being covered by a coil of snake. Lord Shiva is one of the Trinity Gods in Hinduism, the other two being Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. Lord Shiva is also called Mahakaleshar as he is the destroyer of the universe. Here destroyer is used in the sense that Shiva eliminated the evil forces from Earth. And the process creates space for a new order, creates a prelude to a new beginning. Shiv Limgam is held in the highest esteem by the devotees and is placed in almost all Hindu temples dedicated to the Lord. Devotees pour milk and water on the lingam.
